About Us

Buzzdwords is the brainchild of two dead souls, Kelly Meyer and McKenna Sokol. They fatefully met in December 2016 when Kelly was hired at the agency McKenna claimed as her first big-girl job. After bonding over many drinks and multiple (professional?) business trips, they found they had much more in common than a love for marketing. Fast-forward five years and they have yet to legitimately separate, working together again at another agency and setting their friendship in true digital concrete by launching this podcast.

McKenna Sokol

A Wisconsin transplant that never left (much to her mom’s dismay), McKenna spent most of her years in Ohio, growing up in a suburb of Columbus and attending college at Denison University. Calling Madison home since 2016, she has not used a single bit of her degree in Psychology and has built her career at marketing agencies working in account service. In her free time, you can usually find her staring at her dog, sitting with her dog, walking her dog, playing with her dog, or talking about her dog. Favorite Drink(s): whiskey ginger (ginger beer or bust) or a spiced red wine blend.

Kelly Meyer

Born in the south to Midwestern parents, Kelly has spent the majority of her life living in Wisconsin. (Yes, she has “the accent.”) She graduated with a degree in Advertising and Spanish and has spent her decade-long career on both the buy and sell side of digital advertising. Kelly currently resides in Madison, WI with her dog and cat. She enjoys a good book, a solid podcast, a pickup game of sand volleyball and any chance to break into song. Favorite Drink(s): margarita with fresh lime, dark beer or a glass of Malbec.
